FAQ

Q. Why are there pipes sticking up from the ground in my yard?

A. The pipes are for drainage and ventilation for the building sewer. They provide access to the piping underground for cleaning and inspections, as well as providing fresh air to the house trap.

Q. I was told I have tree roots and the sewer line needs to be replaced. Is this true?

A. Not in all cases. In most cases, a light to moderate root intrusion can be controlled by jetting and scouring the line and then using a chemical maintenance program to keep the roots at bay. In other cases, however, the only option is repair or replacement. You can always contact Ranck’s expert excavation team to come out, scope the line and assess the problem, even if it’s just needing a second opinion of the situation.

Q. Who is responsible for the sewer line on my property?

A. The homeowner is responsible for sewer line on their property. In some areas, the homeowner is responsible for the entire line to the main. Always check with your municipality if you are unsure.

Q. How bad will my yard look after you complete your work?

A. We take great care in doing the most minimum damage to your yard and property, leaving no trace behind. We have a reputation of being neat and tidy with our projects, as well as planting grass seeds, if needed, in the area the work was completed. In many cases, there can be very little evidence that we were even there.

Q. Do I need to worry about getting permits for an excavation project with Ranck?

A. No. Ranck will take care of all permits and legalities needed to do the project.
