Time to Change Your Air Filter

Monthly filter changes are the single most effective way to insure efficient performance. Dirty filters are responsible for 80% of expensive compressor and heat exchanger failures. By inhibiting airflow, they also waste precious energy and keep your system from distributing heat efficiently throughout your home.

For the best assurance of a problem-free heating season, schedule your cleaning and precision tune-up if you haven't already done so. Benefits include:

  • Reduced energy bills throughout the year
  • Fewer breakdowns & longer life for your systems
  • A cleaner planet for our children and future generations
  • Carbon Monoxide Safety Check Critical for Family Health!

Quacking Duck

"Duck" Tape or "Duct" Tape?
Whatever You Call It . . .
Only a Quack
Would Use It to Seal Ductwork

Originally developed during WWII to keep moisture out of ammunition cases, "duck" tape got its name for the canvas duck from which it was made. When contractors started to use it to seal ducts, it came to be known as "duct" tape. But it soon became apparent that the tape dried out over time making it a poor choice for the task.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), leaking ductwork plagues 3 out of 4 U.S. homes wasting the equivalent of the energy burned by 13 million cars a year. The typical home is losing 15% to 40% of heating.

Sealing leaks in exposed ductwork can significantly increase your home's energy efficiency. Your Robert H. Ranck and Lin Good & Son professionals have the technology to assess your ductwork's effectiveness. They have the right sealants to permanently seal detected leaks.
